Scott Lang

Candidate for Vice-President

I am a teacher at the Bergen County Academies (BCA), a magnet public school in northern New Jersey. In this position, I helped to establish our Video & Animation Lab as a place for students to produce video and animation projects. Four years ago I started a class called "Interactive Design" and that has allowed us to expand our work in the fields of virtual reality and now augmented reality. Prior to BCA, I worked at the United Nations International School and founded that school's Media Lab.
I am currently Vice-President of NYC ACM SIGGRAPH. I also serve as Executive Director of the ACM SIGGRAPH SCOOP Team.

I have served on the NYC ACM SIGGRAPH Board of Directors for many years and I continue to find it an exciting and rewarding volunteer experience. Planning and organizing events for our chapter is a terrific way to share my enthusiasm for computer graphics and interactive techniques with others. Our monthly BYOA gatherings and our major events, such as Industry Spotlight or MetroCAF, are a staple of the activities we produce for our members. However, we are also interested in expanding the variety of offerings and over the last year, we've featured events that focus on virtual reality and gaming. If elected, I will continue to develop events such as these for our chapter members and the NYC digital media community. We have also begun outreach to other groups in the NYC-area and I hope to continue these collaborations as we move forward. I hope you will give me the chance to continue as NYC ACM SIGGRAPH Vice-President.
