Statement

I would like to be a member of the Board of Directors as a way to use my skills for a larger community, while encouraging my current community to take part in more local opportunities.

I would like to see our local SIGGRAPH develop more educational opportunities.  In an ever evolving field, we should take advantage of the local talent and experts.  I believe there are specialists within our community that would be willing to share their knowledge. A series of master classes and lectures would be a way to develop individual members skill sets as well as develop our interactions as a group.

I have a number of connections with industry leaders, both nationally and locally.  I have a lot of experience with organizing events.  Most recently I organized a guest lecture by Pete Doctor for the School of Visual Arts.  Every year I help host visits for our students from Disney, Pixar, Dreamworks, MPC, Framestore and others.  I believe these skills could be utilized in the Programming and Special Events Committee, as well as the Volunteer Committee.  I know several local artists and students that I could encourage to become more involved.

My interests in animation, visual effects, education, and community building will contribute to my participation in the SIGGRAPH board and local community.
