NYC ACM SIGGRAPH will be co-hosting an artist panel discussion entitled "Digital Sculpture II - Tools & Techniques". Presented in cooperation with Engine 27.

This afternoon discussion panel will focus on artists using industrially developed Computer Assisted Manufacturing (CAM) tools and computer applications to create their art. This distinguished panel of sculptors will discuss the use of CAD/CAM, 3D animation software, Rapid Prototyping 3D Printers and CNC Milling Machines to produce physical objects directly from the computer. The artists on the panel will show examples of their art and discuss aesthetics and technical issues that effect their work. The panel speakers include: Michael Rees, Sculpture (Assistant Professor, NYIT); O. Makai Smith, Sculpture; Robert Michael Smith, Sculpture (3-D Digital Artist, Professor, NYIT, President of The Sculptors Guild); Kimberly Voigt, Sculpture (Jewelry Designer, Member of Intersculpt); Daniel Durning - Moderator (Assistant Professor, NYIT). This event is being held in conjunction with "Intersculpt", an international collaborative sculpture conference being held the week of November 15 -21. "Intersculpt" events will be simultaneously held at locations worldwide. An Internet simulcast is also planned.
